Cannabis Sustainability Committee
Focus Sustainability Committee develops standards to promote sustainable operations for the environmental and business aspects of the cannabis industry. Sustainability topics include ecosystem management, water conservation, energy conservation, pesticide phase-out (if used), carbon footprint reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, sustainable sourcing, business viability including self-assessments, insurance, licenses internal controls and advertising, fair labor practices, worker safety, social sustainability and crisis management.
Scott Afable
Committee Chair
Scott Afable is the CEO & Co-founder of Highest Reward. He has over 12 years experience in the corporate HR space. Mr. Afable is an HR expert and has worked with numerous Fortune 500 Companies, and has consulted in private and public sectors, as well as the cannabis industry. Mr. Afable desire is to see industry wide shifts of consciousness in how businesses connect to and embrace the people who make their success happen. He has a Master’s of Human Resource Development from Villanova University.
John Torrens
John Torrens is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Practice at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University where he teaches courses on Ideation and Opportunity Recognition and other New Venture Creation for Business Planning. Prior to his tenure at the Whitman School, John was Founder and CEO of InterActive Therapy Group and Liberty POST. He is a frequent speaker on Veteran Affairs panels, is a member of YPO and on the advisory board of Docere e-Learning Solutions.
Lori Glauser
Ms. Glauser is President and COO of Signal Bay, Inc. a cannabis industry advisory and services firm. She has nearly 25 years’ experience in engineering, management consulting, and startups, and has expertise in business planning, business process design, financial forecasting, and energy management. Lori holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.
Maxine Pierson
Maxine Pierson is the Vice President Native American Marketing Enterprises. Building Enterprise and Opportunity zones for the Native American Community. She created the first SBA EXIM Bank City State relationship. Ms. Pierson was the featured speaker to promote business opportunities for the SBA throughout South Florida- including Broward County and worked with Palm Beach State college and the SBA to create a new Business Center on the Boca Raton FL Campus. Ms. Pierson was the Strategic Business Institute Director of Marketing and was nominated and awarded the Bilingual Fortune 500 “go to” PR Executive. She is the lead Computer Project Manager for the State of MN Human Services Department. Ms. Pierson is a public speaker and has been the TV host of Palm Beach Live and is a published author.
Tamara Dietrich
Tamara Dietrich has been developing and executing national and state-specific government affairs strategies for over 25 years, including regulatory/compliance environments and the legislative processes in the fields of health care, gaming, cannabis and public safety. Ms. Dietrich has developed and implemented strategies in over 30 states and has managed more than 50 lobbyists and the integration of legislative affairs. Tamara has served on the PPC and Board of Directors for the AZ Chamber of Commerce.
