Cannabis White Papers
A white paper is an authoritative report that utilizes facts and logic to concisely inform readers about a complex issue and present the issuing body’s philosophy on the subject.
In general, white papers provide useful information to help readers better understand an issue, solve a problem, or make a decision. They provide practical, educational content based on well-researched facts. They should be based on a balanced and broad analysis. They should not contain opinions or a sales pitch.
A white paper exemplifies a problem, justifies why the problem must be solved, objectively explores alternative solutions to the problem, and logically leads readers to a conclusion.
However, there are no universal standards for white papers.
There are no laws or regulations surrounding white papers either.
This means anyone can label anything a white paper.
Unfortunately, many people do, and often very carelessly.
For this reason, it is important to consider the context of any white paper. Always identify the author and sponsor of the paper, and consider who benefits if the information is accepted.
Our goal at FOCUS is to distribute unbiased, balanced, credible white papers that provide worthwhile information to further our mission of protecting public health, consumer safety, and safeguarding the environment. FOCUS welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations that share our vision for a safe, legal, sustainable, global cannabis industry in the development of new white papers.
